About Hinman Energy Advisors
Choosing to go solar is a major decision and it makes sense to have someone on. your side of the meter.
Hinman Energy Advisors exists so that you get solar done right, the first time.
We don't install panels. We don't sell equipment. We don't get paid when you sign a contract. Our only job is to sit on your side of the table before you do, and make sure the deal you're looking at actually holds up: the HOA process, the insurance coverage, the ownership structure, the fine print nobody reads on page 34.
Think of it the way you'd think of a buyer's agent in real estate. The installer's job ends at signature. Ours starts there — and covers everything the sales pitch skips.
What that looks like in practice
Homeowners who work with us end up with:
- A system sized and structured for how long they actually plan to stay in the home
- Insurance coverage that's confirmed, not assumed
- A clear answer on what happens at year 6, year 12, and at resale
- Three real quotes compared side by side, not just one company's pitch
- A decision made with the numbers, not around a sales rep's timeline
Why it matters right now
The rules changed in 2026. The federal tax credit that used to make direct ownership simple is gone, and leases and PPAs are about to be pitched harder than ever. Some of those structures are a genuinely good fit. Some of them quietly cost homeowners tens of thousands of dollars at resale. Telling the difference is the whole job.
Who's the solar expert?
Hinman Energy Advisors is owned and run by Randy Hinman, built to give Virginia homeowners the thing the solar industry has never offered by default: someone in the room whose income has nothing to do with which system, and which financing, you end up choosing.
Your side of the meter.
